What's next? Call Now

Every salesperson worth their salt knows that you have to ask for the order. Prospects rarely grab an order form and start filling it out. The salesperson needs to ask. So does your Yellow Pages ad. In sales terms, it's the call to action. They've been attracted to your photograph. Your headline compelled them to read your ad. They've read the ad and are ready to make a move. Now they take a few seconds to review everything to make sure they are doing the right thing. A gentle nudge is all they need.

A gentle nudge will get them dialing.

Your gentle nudge can be, "Call now for a free estimate," or "Immediate Response at 123-4567," or "Call for your Consultation." Basically, any version of "Call Now" works. Get them on your sales process, whatever that process is, get them to take the first baby step. No one likes to be unsure or indecisive. Make it easy for them by telling them what to do next.... like this...

"Call Now, Operators are standing by"

"For an immediate consultation"

"Call"

"Mention the Bell South Yellow Pages"

"Limited Time Offer"

"Only the first 50 callers"

"Call within the next 20 minutes,'cause you know we can't do this all day"

Whether on television, radio, print, internet, or billboards all sorts of ads use a Call to Action. Why? Because it works. Granted, not all these examples apply to the Yellow Pages, but the idea does. To be honest, that last example always bugs me, but that Vince guy with his super-shammies has been around a while. That's proof the concept works.

Every step of the way, the reader is looking for a reason not to call you. A gentle nudge might be all it takes to make them call.
